The Virginia Gazette was the official newspaper of Virginia and was printed in Williamsburg from 1736 until 1780, when the state capital was moved to Richmond. Many images within this collection were created from microfilm. Where possible, we are supplementing microfilm images with more legible images of the original newspaper issues held by the John D. Rockefeller Jr. Library, the Library of Virginia, and the Earl Gregg Swem Library (SWEM) at the College of William & Mary. All available versions are included here to provide the most comprehensive grouping of Virginia Gazettes issues available.
